Vision Statement

The Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Pharmacology at the University of Massachusetts Medical School seeks to foster an interactive, innovative environment in which faculty, students and postdoctoral fellows bring a molecular perspective to problems in biology. By establishing an interface between biology and the disciplines of chemistry, mathematics and physics, this department encourages the development and application of quantitative approaches to complex problems in the life sciences. The department also serves to strengthen and, in turn, be strengthened by close interactions with the other basic science and clinical departments at the medical school.
